Network Administrator

Responsibilities
Provides guidance to Project Managers, RES OT team, Owners, Integrators and others as needed, for OT/ICS/SCADA communications network functions associated with renewable energy power plants
Provides guidance integrating communications network functions of wind, battery, and solar power systems to their associated substation, utility, and balancing authority
Creates and reviews designs for Wind, PV, BESS, and PV+BESS OT/ICS/SCADA Communications Networks that align with regional, owner, regulatory, and contractual requirements for renewable energy power plant SCADA systems
Collaborates with RES project managers to aggregate site requirements, create designs for construction, deliver procurement/deployment plans, create timelines, and control costs
Partners with customers and subcontractors to ensure requirements, regulatory compliance, and expectations of key stakeholders are met
Collaborates with other engineers to make sure renewable energy power plant communications network functions are incorporated, and meet generation, substation, utility, regional, contract, and owner requirements
Deploys OT/ICS/SCADA communications network solutions according to timelines and budget
Troubleshoot problems until site requirements are met
Reviews, inspects, and validates communications network equipment to verify design criteria are incorporated and systems function as anticipated
Works closely with the client teams, as well as RES project managers, construction managers, electrical managers, and project engineers to guarantee a quality system is installed and tested to RES, owner, contract, and regulatory specifications
Ensures that OT/ICS/SCADA communications network systems have been installed per RES, owner, contract, and regulatory requirements and tested to meet QSE, Utility, Substation, and regional reliability council requirements
Supports the operations group throughout the life of the facility to maintain reliability of the energy facility on the grid
Maintains project and department documentation in RES documentation control software
Ensures SAFETY requirements are met
Operates Company aligned vehicle for site visits
Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected
Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures
Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or information technology and at least 3 years' experience (or 5 years of OT/ICS/SCADA Communications Network experience) required
1 or more years of proven OT/ICS/SCADA communications network experience that includes a track record of working on capital intensive construction projects required
Ability to travel domestically 16 to 30% required
Must possess a valid Driver's license
Intermediate experience with switches, routers, firewalls, transceivers, media converters, physical mediums, and other communications networking systems (preferably in electrical generation projects)
Intermediate experience with regulatory compliance and communications networking best practices
Junior level experience with communications network designs, inspections, and functionality testing
Intermediate knowledge of TCP communications network protocols for base-level devices (Modbus, Modbus TCP, OPC, DNP3, SEL-Fast, IEC 61850, and/or ICC, preferred)
Basic understanding of Power Utility scale system development and design
Basic understanding of factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and other functional verification testing used to document equipment functionality
Intermediate knowledge of NERC CIP requirements
Ability to communicate complex concepts to key stakeholders in a collaborative fashion
Functional competencies include attention to detail, drive, collaboration, prioritization, and continuous improvement
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or information technology and at least 1 year of experience preferred
Field experience testing/commissioning communications network functions in generational facilities that integrate power plants to utilities across multiple regions
Basic knowledge of historians and data acquisitions
Basic experience with automation control device integration
Basic experience with complete OT/ICS/SCADA system project life cycles: Basis of design, design, procurement, construction/configuration, testing/commissioning, turnover, and operations
Basic knowledge of generation meters, substation integration requirements, protection relays, inverters, and other electrical equipment used in renewable energy power plant systems
Basic knowledge of regional Balancing Authority, and Local Utility requirements
Intermediate knowledge of Power Plant Networking, Security, and Firewalls
Working knowledge of the renewable energy industry and projects
Familiarity with and ability to stay current on SCADA regulations and standards
