Responsibilities
Depending upon the ISSE’s role, skill level and system complexity, the ISSE may perform all or some subset of these functions
At the lowest levels the ISSE may work under supervision as a member of a team using established processes to develop, test or improve system security
At the highest levels the ISSE may work independently or in a contractor lead technical role, developing system security architecture and requirements, defining processes and methodologies, and resolving complex technical issues or research problems with government oversight
Qualification
Required
An appropriate active Security Clearance and Polygraph
DoD 8570.01-M compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II or Information Assurance Systems Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level 1
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and a technical certification such as Security +
An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and a technical certification such as Security + plus two (2) years of general IT experience
Four (4) years of general IT experience, at least one (1) of which must be information systems security experience
