Sr. Product Design Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead power generation system development by collaborating with other departments, vendors, and customers
Develop and evaluate engineering designs (including subsystems) following standard engineering principles and practices
Responsible for lead engineer activity which includes being the primary contact for a project manager
Develop standards to further improve robust development process with new and existing systems
Research and develop new subsystem designs for new product development for power generation systems
Release parts and subsystem for production
Review, analyze, revise, and develop design drawings, fully parametric models, standards and specifications for complex components and subsystems
Lead and manage design tasks which includes maintaining a high level of accuracy, completeness, geometric dimension and tolerancing (GD&T), and compliance with standard procedures and design manufacturing requirements
Calculate and size components for systems optimization
Plan and implement complex test and/or development programs
Ensure project deliverables are met on schedule
Develop assembly drawings for new product BOM creation
Provide input into new product design and development
Responsible for design compliance within technical specification
Support production on first time assembly builds
Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct
Perform special projects as required
Qualification
Required

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Application Engineering, or Automotive Engineering and 5 years application, service, sales, or manufacturing engineering experience in large equipment industry or 9 years of application, service, sales or manufacturing engineering experience in large equipment industry
Preferred
Excellent knowledge of 3D CAD and manual drafting principles, practices, methods and techniques
Excellent knowledge of design development and test engineering, manufacturing and assembly operations, engineering processes and procedures
Strong ability to conduct and interpret structural analysis
Excellent knowledge of GD&T, can interpret effect on component design, and can advise others and check team drawings for integrity and accuracy
Excellent knowledge of principles or detailed operation of gensets
Excellent analytical ability where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
3-5 years experience with power generation industry
