Organizational Change Management and Communication Consultant
Optimum Healthcare IT is seeking an Organizational Change Management and Communication Consultant to support a health system undergoing enterprise application modernization. The role involves advising and delivering support for the transition from Cerner to Epic, focusing on driving adoption and readiness throughout the transformation lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Design and execute OCM strategies aligned to Epic program milestones and deployment waves
Conduct stakeholder, impact, and readiness assessments across clinical, operational, and technical domains
Identify change risks, resistance points, and adoption barriers; develop targeted mitigation strategies
Advise executive sponsors and operational leaders on change sponsorship and engagement approaches
Coordinate change activities with training, testing, cutover, and go-live efforts
Define and track change, readiness, and adoption metrics
Develop and manage role-based, multi-channel communication plans (email, intranet, leadership toolkits, town halls, job aids)
Translate technical and workflow changes into clear, actionable messaging for impacted audiences
Ensure consistent messaging across workstreams, deployment phases, and stakeholder groups
Support executive and frontline communications before, during, and after go-live
Provide change reinforcement and stabilization communications post–deployment
Support OCM and communications for nursing, providers, and inpatient ancillary services
Translate Epic inpatient workflow changes into frontline-ready messaging
Partner with clinical leadership to reinforce standardization, safety, and adoption
Support go-live readiness, command center communications, and stabilization efforts
Drive change and adoption strategies for ambulatory clinicians, practice leadership, and staff
Develop communications supporting phased clinic deployments and workflow transitions
Address provider readiness, engagement, and adoption risks
Support change management for patient access, HIM, coding, billing, and finance teams
Develop targeted communications addressing role changes, productivity expectations, and new workflows
Partner with revenue leadership to mitigate transition risks and support performance stabilization
Support perioperative, imaging, and procedural teams through complex workflow changes
Develop role-specific communications for surgeons, anesthesiology, imaging technologists, and schedulers
Address adoption challenges in high-acuity and tightly integrated environments
Align OCM activities with Epic training strategy, timelines, and deployment waves
Reinforce training participation, readiness expectations, and competency milestones
Support development of change-focused training communications and reinforcement materials
Drive engagement and participation in integrated testing and end-user testing activities
Communicate testing expectations, schedules, and feedback processes
Support readiness checkpoints and issue escalation communications
Support communications related to device readiness, access provisioning, downtime planning, and performance impacts
Translate technical milestones into operationally relevant messaging
Partner with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure awareness of workflow and deployment dependencies
Qualification
Required
5–10+ years of experience delivering OCM and communications consulting in healthcare environments
Demonstrated experience supporting Epic implementations, optimizations, or EHR transitions
Strong understanding of clinical, operational, revenue cycle, and IT workflows
Proven ability to advise and influence executive, clinical, and operational stakeholders
Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills
Familiarity with formal change methodologies (Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter, or similar)
Preferred
Health system mergers, acquisitions, or enterprise transformations
Large, multi-entity healthcare organizations
Prior Epic program or health IT consulting engagements
Consultant role aligned to one or more Epic workstreams
High-visibility, deadline-driven transformation environment
Requires strong collaboration, adaptability, and independent execution
