Human Resources Specialist - Employee Relations

The State of Missouri is seeking an experienced employee relations professional to join the Office of Administration. In this role, you will manage employee relations cases, resolve conflicts, and ensure compliance with employment laws while promoting a healthy work environment.

Responsibilities

Manage employee relations cases, including preparing for, conducting, and documenting investigations
Administer Performance Improvement Plans and disciplinary actions, up to and including dismissals
Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to effectively assist with requests from OA leadership, teammates, and other stakeholders
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, statewide policies, and OA policies and practices
Maintain accurate, well-organized documentation of work performed
Stay current on federal and state employment laws and regulations
Apply and promote HR best practices in daily work
Develop, implement, and interpret administrative policies
Collaborate closely with legal staff, OA leadership, teammates, and other stakeholders
Complete special projects and assignments based on OA business needs
Provide support across the HR team as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Two or more years of successful, autonomous employee relations investigative experience, including administering discipline
Two or more years of demonstrated knowledge and skill in preparing for and leading HR investigations

Preferred

Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
Familiarity with OA's organizational structure and workforce
Understanding of position classification concepts
Ability to objectively gather and analyze facts
Strong commitment to confidentiality
Ability to accurately capture key details and maintain thorough documentation
Sound analytical skills with the ability to draw well-reasoned conclusions
Professional, positive, and productive demeanor
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Strong collaboration skills and a proactive, resourceful approach to problem-solving
Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing assignments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
