Senior Project Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead the development of project strategies, plans, and budgets for large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with Interstate Engineering’s strategic objectives
Monitor and manage project portfolios, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and delivering measurable outcomes for clients
Identify and mitigate high-level risks, implementing proactive strategies to ensure project success and client satisfaction
Provide detailed reports and updates to senior leadership and clients, maintaining transparent communication on project status, challenges, and solutions
Manage multidisciplinary project teams, fostering collaboration, resolving conflicts, and ensuring efficient resource allocation across departments
Mentor Project Engineers, Staff Engineers, and Engineering Technicians, supporting their professional growth and preparing them for leadership roles
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key clients and stakeholders, collaborating with Funding Specialists to secure additional project funding when applicable
Lead high-level meetings, negotiations, and presentations, incorporating community feedback gathered by the Community Engagement Specialist to address client and community needs
Collaborate with Surveyors, Planners, Landscape Architects, and Environmental Specialists to integrate multidisciplinary solutions, such as sustainable infrastructure or resilient design, into project plans
Provide high-level technical guidance and oversight for project deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations across all projects
Work with the Marketing Director to highlight successful projects in marketing campaigns, showcasing the firm’s expertise and enhancing its reputation as an industry leader
Participate in professional development to enhance strategic leadership skills, preparing for advancement to roles such as Principal Engineer, or exploring related roles like Client Manager through cross-training in broader operational leadership
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
10–12 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a project management role
Advanced project management skills, including proficiency in project management tools
Extensive knowledge of engineering principles, industry standards, and regulations
Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills
Proven ability to manage complex projects and stakeholder relationships
Ability to perform site visits and assessments, which may involve walking, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain
Capable of lifting and carrying equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in various weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other environmental factors
Adequate vision and hearing abilities to effectively assess project sites, read and interpret technical drawings, and communicate with team members and stakeholders
Ability to operate standard office equipment and use computer software for project management, design, and documentation purposes
Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as necessary
