Accounts Payable Accountant

University of Maryland is seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant to assist with daily transmittals and manage invoice requests. The role involves approving payments, managing vendor maintenance requests, and resolving payment-related issues.

Responsibilities

Assist/process daily transmittals for all delegated APs and UMES
Manage 710 requests for all rejected invoices
Approve ad hoc payments in Workday, including Concur travel reimbursements and RSTARS wire payments
Approve Concur travel reimbursements in the Concur system
Approve Ad Hoc Payees
Assist/Manage WD Domestic Vendor Maintenance Requests and respond to related activity messages
Assign, create, and respond to ServiceNow cases
Respond to emails sent to personal, APAdmin, and APGAD accounts
Assist staff with resolving issues related to payments, departments, vendors, and GAD
Obtain vendor contact information for System Control to support wire payments for travel reimbursement
Process stop/reissue and stop/recovery of checks
Request copies of checks when needed
Add mail codes to RSTARS when needed
Assist on batching and uploading invoices or ad hocs to eBooks
Assist/Manage undeliverable checks (U, N, E codes)

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with a minimum of nine (9) credits in Accounting
Working knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to apply basic analytical skills
Ability to operate manual and automated office equipment, personal computers and financial software to input data
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to prepare and present working papers and supporting documentation
