Responsibilities

Assist in collecting data for engineering projects, including field measurements, surveys, and material testing, collaborating with Survey Technicians to ensure accuracy
Support the preparation of technical drawings, reports, and documentation using engineering software, such as OpenRoads or Civil 3D, under the guidance of staff and/or project engineers
Perform basic calculations and data analysis to support project designs, ensuring alignment with project specifications
Conduct site visits to assist with inspections, monitoring, and data collection, documenting site conditions for the project team
Ensure adherence to safety protocols during fieldwork, participating in safety training facilitated by the HR Generalist
Assist in preparing project schedules, budgets, and resource lists as directed, working with Project Managers to align with project timelines
Coordinate with CADD Technicians to provide field data for technical drawings, ensuring accurate representation of site conditions
Collaborate with teams to gather data during site visits, supporting sustainable project design
Maintain organized records of project data and documentation, ensuring accessibility for project teams and compliance with firm standards
Participate in training sessions to build technical skills and knowledge of engineering principles, including software training with IT Support
Work with the Community Engagement Specialist to document community feedback from site visits, ensuring engineering projects address local needs, such as accessibility or environmental concerns
Seek feedback from supervisors to improve performance and prepare for advancement to roles such as Staff Engineer, or explore related roles like Survey Technician through cross-training in field data collection

Required

Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
0–2 years of experience in a technical or engineering support role (internship experience acceptable)
Basic proficiency in engineering software such as OpenRoads or Civil 3D
Familiarity with engineering principles and practices
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
Ability to perform site visits and assessments, which may involve walking, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain
Capable of lifting and carrying equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in various weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other environmental factors
Adequate vision and hearing abilities to effectively assess project sites, read and interpret technical drawings, and communicate with team members and stakeholders
Ability to operate standard office equipment and use computer software for project management, design, and documentation purposes
Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as necessary
