Responsibilities
Design mechanical fixtures, jigs, and electronic enclosures using SolidWorks
Create detailed 2D fabrication drawings
Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards to ensure parts fit correctly and are manufacturable
Utilize in-house 3D printing to rapidly prototype designs, test fitment, and validate concepts before committing to hard tooling or metal fabrication
Own interactions with external machine shops and fabrication vendors
Optimize designs for various manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, injection molding) to reduce cost and lead time without sacrificing quality
Inspect incoming fabricated parts against technical drawings to ensure tolerances are met
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent practical experience
Proficiency in SolidWorks (CSWP or CSWE preferred)
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, specifically CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printing
Demonstrated ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T to production drawings
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with vendors and internal teams
Experience interacting outsourcing fabrication and working with machine shops
Preferred
Experience designing enclosures for electronics
Hands-on machine shop experience (milling, turning) is a plus
Experience with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM) for version control
