Executive Director
The Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation (SBTF) is dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by brain tumors. The Executive Director will lead the organization in advancing its mission, managing operations, and driving fundraising efforts to ensure sustainable growth and community impact.
Responsibilities
Translate board vision and strategic priorities into actionable organizational plans with measurable outcomes
Partner closely with the Board of Directors to refine strategy, support board development, and lead initiatives such as board retreats and long-term planning
Prepare board agendas, reports, and data-driven updates to support strong governance and informed decision-making
Identify opportunities, risks, and growth pathways that position SBTF for long-term sustainability
Lead all development activities, with a focus on diversifying revenue beyond events and community support
Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundations, with particular emphasis on expanding corporate sponsorships and engaging Fortune 500 companies in the Atlanta metro area
Ensure strong financial and operational performance of signature events, including the golf tournament and Race for Research
Serve as the public face of SBTF, representing the organization at events, meetings, conferences, and within the broader brain tumor and healthcare communities
Ensure all programs remain mission-aligned, patient-centered, and responsive to evolving needs within the brain tumor community
Support and strengthen patient support initiatives, research funding efforts, and partnerships with medical institutions and advocacy groups
Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend enhancements or modernization where appropriate
Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization, providing leadership to a small team that includes one full-time staff member and part-time support personnel
Supervise and support staff and key volunteers, fostering a culture where staff and volunteers feel valued and appreciated
Maintain oversight of financial management in partnership with the organization’s CPA, including budgeting, reporting, and financial controls
Manage or oversee core administrative functions such as use of Raiser’s Edge, social media, website updates, compliance filings, and general nonprofit operations
Ensure operational efficiency, appropriate systems, and compliance with nonprofit governance and fiduciary standards
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5+ years of nonprofit or related leadership experience
Demonstrated success in fundraising, particularly in major gifts, corporate partnerships, and diversified revenue strategies
Experience leading or supporting fundraising events and community-based development initiatives
Strong relationship-builder with the ability to engage donors, board members, volunteers, corporate partners, and community stakeholders
Strategic thinker who can develop and execute multi-year plans while remaining comfortable in a highly hands-on, operational role
Solid financial management and organizational skills, with experience overseeing budgets and working with external financial partners
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities including operations, administration, communications, and compliance in a small nonprofit environment
Comfort working remotely while maintaining strong local engagement in the Atlanta metro area
Deep empathy for patients and families navigating serious medical diagnoses and a genuine commitment to SBTF's mission
Experience working effectively with a volunteer board and supporting governance best practices
