This hands-on leadership role involves optimizing AI-enabled software and leading a team to improve underwriting processes and products.

Responsibilities

Serve as a hands-on senior leader with a build mindset
Work with AI-native platforms, automation, data, and modern technology stacks
Apply software engineering and system design principles to underwriting processes and products
Act as the hands-on owner for workflows, rules, integrations, configurations, data usage, and platform evolution
Make build / configure / buy decisions
Continuously identify, propose, and ship improvements that make underwriters faster and more effective
Serve as the technical authority in discussions with underwriting, leadership, and vendors

Required

BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering
5+ years of experience with TypeScript, SQL, Python (Django), Node.js, scaling APIs
3+ years leading software implementations with strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, workflow engines or rules-based systems, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines
Proven experience leading engineering teams or pods, including mentorship
Demonstrated ability to make pragmatic technical decisions balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability

Preferred

Insurance experience is strongly preferred
Deep knowledge of REST and Kafka is a plus
Familiarity with context and prompt engineering
