The role involves managing discipline engineering to meet customer and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling, and budgets, while ensuring compliance with applicable state laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the discipline's engineering with that of other disciplines
Maintain records, files and other documents pertaining to the discipline
Assume responsibility for ensuring that engineering documents comply with applicable state laws/regulations, including affixing registered engineer seal when required
Assign preparers and checkers for discipline specifications and coordinates review of external specifications
Establish schedules and budgets to meet project requirements and obtains approval
Maintain technical coordination with the Principal Engineer to ensure adherence to industry codes, regulatory requirements and sound engineering practices
Direct the preparation and submits periodic reports and forecasts on the status of the discipline
Comply with state requirements for continuing education, maintains and obtains licenses as requested
Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training
Advises the Project Engineering Manager regarding status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems
Work closely with Chief Discipline Engineers, Principal Engineers and Project Engineering Managers on employees evaluations and promotions and the overall technical improvement of the group
Lead the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor the effect of these on the budget
Able to lead all aspects of estimating for a discipline
Responsible for performance management and mentoring
Provide assistance to projects to address technical issues related to process improvement
Assist in training and mentoring/coaching other team members
Assist in the development of training programs within area of technical expertise and conducts training sessions as appropriate
Create positive working relationships with peer leaders
Create productive relationships with organizations both within and external to Engineering

Required

Bachelor of Sciences degree in Mechanical Engineering required from an ABET Accredited Program
Minimum of ten (10) years design engineering experience
Professional Engineering License required
Intermediate level of knowledge within a specific discipline and an understanding of other disciplines
Experience in Plant design engineering in a highly regulated environment is essential
Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required
Client projects for this position require US Citizenship
Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, engineering analyses, strength of materials calculations, fabrication and procurement specifications and a basic knowledge in the selection of materials
Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel)
Must have U.S. Citizenship. US Dual Citizenship may be considered

Preferred

Familiar with specifications and data sheets for large complex process facilities
Experience with Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Vessels a plus
High temperature equipment design a plus
Experience with sizing HVAC equipment a plus
