Responsibilities
Review and analyze commercial insurance policies and insurance claim files
Draft insurance coverage evaluations and coverage position letters
Conduct legal research and analysis to support coverage evaluations and litigation matters
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with attention to detail
Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations
Manage and prioritize a diverse caseload
Work closely with partners on complex litigation matters
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, judges, mediators, arbitrators, and other parties involved in the litigation process
Participate in strategy discussions and case planning
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record
Admission to the state bar corresponding to the office where the candidate is applying and in good standing
Minimum of 5 years of experience
Ability to interface directly with attorneys and clients
Demonstrate an ability to work independently and productively
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Strong decision-making, problem-solving and organization skills
Outstanding judgment
Ability to effectively handle multiple projects
Ability to develop and implement legal strategies
Commitment to the local community
Preferred
Experience handling insurance coverage disputes in the commercial insurance sector
Experience representing clients in insurance coverage matters involving multiple types of insurance coverage, including commercial general liability, pollution liability, marine, directors and officers, professional liability, and errors and omissions
Experience reviewing commercial insurance policies, drafting coverage evaluations and reservation of rights letters
Experience conducting factual investigations and discovery
Experience preparing pleadings, taking depositions, participating in mediation
Experience managing and prioritizing a diverse caseload
Experience working closely with partners on complex litigation matters
Experience participating in strategy discussions and case planning
