$17.11/hr - $17.11/hrNEOGOV is seeking a paid intern for the Shelby County Highway Department. The intern will assist engineering and inspection staff with tasks related to the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of Shelby County’s transportation network.

Responsibilities
Assists with construction inspection of highway paving & striping, bridge construction, access improvements, and construction of residential subdivisions
Assists with preparing quantities and pay estimates
Assists with review of construction plans for subdivisions and proposed developments
Assists with pre-construction research, design, and computer aided drafting for construction and repair projects
Assists with data collection, field work and surveying for project development
Participates in plan reviews and meetings
Performs research related to right-of-way, storm drainage and flood data, traffic studies, and other highway data
Creates and maintains spreadsheets, reports and databases and ensures accuracy
Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner
Performs other duties as assigned by supervision
Qualification
Required
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate college student majoring in Engineering, Civil Engineering preferred
Valid Driver's License
Must be at least 16 years of age
The successful candidate will be detail oriented, able to follow directions, and a self-starter
