Sr. Director, Church Engagement
The International Mission Board (IMB) is a nonprofit religious organization based in Richmond, VA, seeking a Sr. Director of Church Engagement. This role provides strategic leadership for engaging Southern Baptist churches in missionary efforts, overseeing a comprehensive engagement strategy that reaches over 47,000 churches.

Responsibilities
Lead the strategic direction and execution of the IMB’s U.S. church engagement strategy
Build and oversee a scalable structure to serve Southern Baptist churches of all sizes and giving capacities through three engagement tiers
Partner closely with IMB leadership, field personnel, and other U.S. Engagement teams to align mobilization, communication, and partnership efforts
Use data insights and relationship management tools to assess engagement health and prioritize efforts with top churches
Lead and develop a national team consisting of regional strategists and church network team
Drive church engagement outcomes aligned to IMB’s U.S. Engagement vision
Develop strategies and systems to enhance awareness of the global lostness (the world’s greatest problem—lostness) and connect churches to tangible solutions through IMB mission opportunities
Manage strategic church strategies, budgets, and performance metrics for national engagement efforts
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless communication, reporting, and alignment with broader IMB goals
Evaluate and refine strategies to maximize relational reach and return on investment
Qualification
Required
Master's-level Seminary degree and/or Master's in Business Administration (MBA), preferred
At least eight years of related experience in missions or church leadership and strategic engagement background and deep understanding of SBC denominational culture and church life
Demonstrated ability to set the strategic direction for a national engagement initiative and to execute that vision across a complex, multi‑layered organization
Expertise in coaching, performance management, and building a collaborative, high‑performance culture that aligns with ministry excellence
Ability to partner closely with senior IMB leadership, global personnel, and other U.S. Engagement teams to synchronize mobilization, communication, and partnership strategies
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to work effectively with internal departments and external constituencies
Deep understanding of the global 'lostness' challenge and the ability to translate that vision into practical strategies that inspire churches to pray, send, and give
Experience creating awareness campaigns and mission‑opportunity pipelines that connect congregations with tangible outreach solutions
Commitment to ongoing learning, best‑practice adoption, and innovative problem‑solving in a fast‑changing ministry environment
Ability to travel up to 30% and work weekend and evening hours, as needed

Prior missions experience is a plus
