Responsibilities
Manage assigned bridge and structural projects in accordance with defined scope, schedule, and budget
Coordinate and guide technical project teams to ensure high-quality deliverables, including construction plans and submittal documents
Provide structural engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from preliminary design through final design and construction
Lead and mentor project team members through regular check-ins, feedback, and performance coaching
Set goals, conduct one-on-one meetings, and support professional development within the team
Collaborate with internal disciplines and subconsultants to develop risk-averse project scopes and fees
Develop project-specific plans, including project management plans and quality management plans
Create, maintain, and manage project schedules
Identify, manage, and coordinate subconsultants
Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and develop extra work orders or task proposals as required
Communicate project status, updates, and risks to internal and external stakeholders
Participate in project financial review meetings
Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure project success
Prepare progress reports and review invoices
Develop and lead project status presentations
Support marketing efforts, including Go/No-Go decisions, proposal development, and interviews
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
10+ years of bridge and structural design experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Virginia
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred
Experience working with VDOT and Virginia local agencies
Experience with multiple project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3)
Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams
