Postdoc Research Associate (Vector Neurogenetics and Behavior)
Baylor University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Raji Lab in the Department of Biology. The role involves conducting independent and collaborative research on mosquito sensory systems and behavior to develop innovative strategies for reducing mosquito-borne diseases.

Responsibilities
Design, execute, and interpret independent research projects aligned with the lab’s core aims
Develop and apply genetic, neurogenetic, and molecular tools in mosquitoes
Lead experiments involving CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, transcriptomics, and functional genomics
Perform and analyze behavioral assays, neurophysiology, functional imaging, and neuroanatomical studies
Analyze complex datasets and integrate molecular, neural, and behavioral findings
Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and present findings at national and international conferences
Contribute to the development of grant proposals and fellowship applications
Maintain rigorous experimental records and ensure reproducibility and data integrity
Mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers in experimental design and laboratory techniques
Collaborate with internal and external research partners
Perform other duties as assigned in support of Baylor University’s mission
Comply with University policies, safety regulations, and responsible conduct of research standards
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Entomology, or a related field
Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments
Strong background in one or more of the following areas: neurobiology, genetics, molecular biology, sensory biology, or behavior
Proven record of scientific productivity, including peer-reviewed publications or manuscripts in preparation
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred
Experience with vector biology or insect model systems, particularly mosquitoes
Expertise in CRISPR-Cas9–based genome editing, transcriptomics, or functional imaging
Experience with behavioral neuroscience, neurophysiology, or circuit mapping
Interest in translational applications related to vector control or global health
Strong interest in mentorship and collaborative research
