Responsibilities

Build and execute CFD models for air- and liquid-cooled data center systems
Perform simulations to assess airflow patterns, thermal performance, pressure behavior, and cooling effectiveness
Evaluate interior IT environments as well as exterior conditions impacting facility performance
Analyze site and environmental effects such as wind interaction, heat rejection behavior, and outdoor air pathways
Identify performance risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities through simulation results
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams to support design development
Communicate findings through clear technical documentation, visualizations, and presentations
Contribute to optimization of cooling strategies, containment approaches, and equipment layouts
Develop and maintain reusable CFD assets, including equipment models, boundary conditions, and scenario templates
Ensure modeling practices align with ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidelines and internal design criteria

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
3++ years of professional CFD modeling experience (Cadence strongly preferred)
Demonstrated experience with data center cooling and infrastructure systems, including: IT hardware thermal behavior, Mechanical cooling plants (air- and water-cooled), CRAH/CRAC units and air distribution systems, Liquid cooling and CDUs, Emergency power and heat rejection equipment, Containment and airflow management strategies
Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, equipment data, and facility layouts
Capable of managing multiple analyses simultaneously with accuracy and consistency
Effective communicator, able to explain complex results to both technical and non-technical audiences
Familiarity with data center design standards and best practices

Preferred

EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
Experience supporting high-density, hyperscale, or other mission-critical data center projects
