Responsibilities
Perform the tasks of a journey-level mechanic on the repair and maintenance of automobiles, heavy trucks and construction equipment and attachments
Repair and maintain motors, generators, and other mechanical and electrical components of stationary or mobile power-driven equipment
Supervise support staff as required
Oversee other journey level employees engaged in the maintenance and repair of motorized equipment
Qualification
Required
Four years of experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic responsible for the diagnosis of faulty vehicle and/or equipment operation and the performance of mechanical repairs covering several aspects of automotive and/or diesel systems
OR an associate's degree in automotive or diesel repair technology
Possession and maintenance of a CDL Class B license issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles will be required
Candidates applying without a CDL B license are required to obtain a CDL permit within 30 days of appointment and obtain the license by the end of the probationary period
Pursuant to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be required
Once appointed to/selected for the position, random drug and alcohol testing will be required
All potential candidates for this position must be legally eligible to work in the United States at the time of appointment and throughout your employment with the New York State Thruway Authority
If appointed, you will be required to produce documents that verify your identity and authorization to work in the United States, as required by the Federal Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, and the Immigration and Nationality Act
