Senior Software Systems Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end systems engineering activities including requirements development, architecture design, trade studies, integration, and verification/validation
Translate stakeholder operational needs into clear, testable, and traceable system requirements across the product lifecycle
Develop and manage system architectures, interface definitions, and configuration baselines for complex simulation systems
Drive technical planning, risk identification/mitigation, and engineering decision-making across multidisciplinary teams
Conduct and lead design reviews, technical assessments, and engineering audits to ensure compliance with Navy and industry standards
Produce and maintain high-quality systems engineering documentation (specifications, system diagrams, ICDs, and V&V plans)
Apply proficiency in object-oriented design, including analysis of interactions between SW, HW, and simulation frameworks
Collaborate with software, hardware, test, and integration teams to resolve technical issues and maintain system integrity
Support customer engagements, milestone reviews, and technical briefings by communicating system status, risks, and engineering decisions
Utilize version control and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, etc.) to support reproducible integration and testing workflows
Qualification
Required
Bachelors degree in CS/CE/EE/SE or other related engineering sciences discipline
Minimum of 8 years of experience or relevant engineering experience
Solid understanding of GUI design principles and user interface development within simulation or operator-driven environments
Demonstrated experience developing requirements, design documentation, test plans, test procedures, and user guides
Experience integrating hardware, software, and networked components in air-gapped or security-controlled environments
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance
Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred
Experience with Navy command and control, sensor, or weapon systems
Understanding of Open Architecture principles used in Navy training and combat systems
Familiarity with Navy training pipelines, operator workflows, or simulator systems
Experience with modeling and simulation software in real-time training systems
Knowledge of distributed object and simulation protocols, including CORBA, RTI DDS, DIS, and HLA
Experience developing or integrating real-time architecture
Understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
Experience applying Waterfall or hybrid systems engineering methodologies
Experience with .NET, C#, or Visual Studio‑based development environments
Strong knowledge of Software Configuration Management tools and discipline
