Baldor Specialty Foods, Inc. is seeking a Yard Jockey to ensure the efficient flow of trucks in and out of dock doors at their distribution center. This role involves safely moving company-owned vehicles and trailers, conducting vehicle inspections, and adhering to safety procedures while supporting loading and unloading operations.

Responsibilities

Safely operate company vehicles to move trailers and trucks within the yard
Move trucks in and out of dock doors to support loading and unloading operations
Follow all company safety policies, driving rules, and yard procedures at all times
Conduct basic vehicle inspections and report damages or maintenance concerns
Write clear and accurate reports when required
Maintain three points of contact when entering and exiting trucks
Walk to and from vehicles throughout the yard during assigned shifts
Sit for 10–20 minute intervals multiple times per day while operating vehicles
Stand for 5–10 minute intervals multiple times per day
Lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Work night hours and weekends as required
Ensure the safety and condition of the truck fleet while vehicles are parked or moved
Prevent vehicle damage through proper parking and maneuvering
Inspect trucks for visible damage and immediately report issues to the supervisor on duty
Report any suspicious persons or activities observed on or around company property
Arrange truck parking in an orderly, efficient, and accessible manner
Transport trucks to and from loading docks as directed
Deliver trucks to leasing or service vendors for repairs or maintenance when needed
Verify all required permits and paperwork are present in each vehicle
Ensure proper equipment and emergency supplies are in trucks and fully operational
Perform additional vehicle inspections as required
Confirm vehicle keys are returned by drivers and secured in the truck
Inspect truck back roll-up doors: In good weather, ensure empty truck roll-up doors are open and equipment is secured; In inclement weather (snow, ice, or heavy rain), ensure roll-up doors are closed and equipment is secured

Required

Valid driver's license required
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods throughout the shift
Ability to work nights, weekends, and assigned shifts based on business needs
Strong attention to safety, detail, and operational efficiency

Preferred

High School Diploma or GED preferred
Ability to read, write, and follow instructions; capable of writing reports
Prior yard jockey, spotter, or commercial vehicle experience preferred
