Responsibilities
Perform an in-depth documentation review of materials received and process certifications from suppliers for first article and production parts
Develop reverse engineering materials test plans to be sent to outside labs
Provide support in preparation of documentation required to send first article and production parts to outside Materials Analysis labs
Interface with outside labs, Review test reports for accuracy and complete test plans
Perform in-house materials testing with XRF equipment, FTIR, Rockwell hardness, Shore hardness and passivation test (Training will be provided)
Develop and maintain materials and process specifications in compliance with aerospace standards (e.g., ASTM, AMS, MIL)
Other Duties assigned by Materials Engineering
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Materials / Metallurgical engineering or a related field with at least two years of related Materials Engineering experience
Strong understanding of different types of metallic and non-metallic aerospace materials including polymers and composites, metals finishing processes, and materials specifications
Demonstrated proficiency in materials characterization and hardness measurement techniques
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
A strong work ethic, high attention to detail required to review documentation, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Experience in working with aerospace, automotive or medical grade materials is a plus
Prior experience involving understanding of Aerospace Materials Specifications (AMS), ASTM, AS, MIL, NAS specifications is a plus
