Responsibilities
Develop and maintain Chef cookbooks, recipes, templates, attributes, and custom resources
Build and enhance infrastructure automation pipelines for provisioning and configuration
Implement policy-based configuration using Chef Infra, Test Kitchen, InSpec, and Chef Automate
Integrate Chef with CI/CD systems (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
Perform error handling, versioning, and code reviews for cookbook updates
Work with platform teams (Compute, Storage, Network, Cloud) to automate repeatable operations
Troubleshoot configuration drifts, cookbook failures, and infrastructure-level issues
Enforce compliance and security baselines using Chef InSpec
Drive automation maturity and reduce manual operational activities
Prepare documentation, standards, and automation patterns
Manage and support compute infrastructure across on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid environments
Ensure high availability and performance of Windows and Linux compute platforms
Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Chef, or Terraform
Participate in incident response , root cause analysis, and reliability engineering improvements
Build dashboards, alerts, and monitoring for compute health and capacity
Optimize VM sizing, performance tuning, lifecycle management, and patching strategy
Implement SRE practices: SLIs, SLOs, Error Budgets, Toil reduction
Collaborate with network, storage, security, and cloud platform teams
Drive improvements in scalability, self‑healing, observability, and automation
Maintain compliance and hardening standards across compute assets
Qualification
Required
Strong hands-on experience with Chef Infra, Chef Automate, Test Kitchen, InSpec
Proficiency in Ruby, PowerShell, Bash scripting
Understanding of CI/CD and Git-based workflows
Experience with Windows/Linux administration
Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
Infrastructure automation and configuration management best practices
Debugging configuration drift and infra-related issues
Manage and support compute infrastructure across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments
Ensure high availability and performance of Windows and Linux compute platforms
Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Chef, or Terraform

Strong incident management and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with SRE concepts (SLOs, Error Budgets, Reliability Patterns)
