Responsibilities
Design, build, maintain, and improve progressive dies for high-volume metal stamping processes
Maintain and optimize molds, tooling, and legacy machinery
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD designs (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), and GD&T
Troubleshoot stamping and tooling issues to ensure precision, quality, and production efficiency
Collaborate with production, engineering, and vendor teams to determine tooling methods, applications, and design concepts
Generate cost estimates, obtain quotes for new dies and die repairs, and oversee tooling procurement
Supervise and validate initial tool use in production to ensure proper functionality
Develop and maintain engineering specifications covering mechanics, materials, tolerances, and design standards
Qualification
Required
6+ years of progressive tooling experience in metal stamping and die maintenance
Hands-on experience with legacy machinery and high-volume production environments
Broad mechanical engineering knowledge, with a strong foundation in tool design and manufacturing processes
Proven problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
Experience managing vendor relationships and coordinating outsourced tooling work
Strong proficiency in CAD software and blueprint reading
Must be able to relocate to Raleigh, NC prior to start
Must have 6+ years of tooling and tooling design experience
