Human Resources Director
Hyatt is a luxury hotel brand, and they are seeking a Director of Human Resources who can foster and sustain a high-performing culture while supporting both operational excellence and colleague well-being. This role involves aligning people strategies with business objectives and service initiatives to support the hotel’s operational and financial goals.
Responsibilities
Lead the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function, ensuring alignment with hotel objectives and Hyatt standards
Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures that support workforce planning, engagement, and service excellence
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, government regulations, and company policies
Oversee employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, and development programs to support operational needs
Conduct workforce planning, recruitment strategies, talent development, and succession planning for key roles
Partner with department leaders to address employee concerns, performance management, and disciplinary matters in a consistent and compliant manner
Manage risk mitigation efforts, including Workers’ Compensation, unemployment claims, and related matters
Perform compensation analysis and wage surveys to maintain market competitiveness and internal equity
Coach and counsel leaders and colleagues to uphold Hyatt values, service standards, and performance expectations
Plan and oversee colleague engagement initiatives, including recognition programs, events, and culture-building activities
Collaborate closely with Corporate Human Resources and participate in HR networks to share best practices
Monitor HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement
Lead change management efforts related to organizational transitions, policy updates, or business needs
Ensure effective use and maintenance of HR technology systems, including HRIS and payroll-related tools
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 6 years of progressive Human Resources experience; hospitality experience strongly preferred
Proven ability to lead in a service-driven, fast-paced hospitality environment
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence, coach, and partner with senior leaders
High energy, entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; HRIS experience required
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills with attention to detail
Ability to move throughout the property, including standing and walking for extended periods
Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative and computer-based work
Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds
Availability to work flexible hours as needed to support operational and colleague needs
Preferred
Hyatt experience and/or hotel opening or pre-opening experience strongly desired
Spanish language skills strongly preferred
