Responsibilities
Develop finite element methods to perform coupled loads analysis and use Craig-Bampton model reduction theory to prepare models for integration and hardware modal testing
Perform structural dynamic analyses in support of the design and design verification of space flight vehicle systems
Producing and maintaining models generated from both in-house and commercially available software codes, that simulate mechanical loading conditions, dynamic environments (shock and vibration), and mechanism motions
Support Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of prime vendors for methods and model integration
Generating detailed analysis reports and presenting/communicating those results with the customer
Perform safety and certification training to support ESSCA and customer requirements
Qualification
Required
Degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution is required
Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 24 years of experience, Masters with at least 28 years of experience, or BS with at least 30 years of experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
A proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite competence (Word, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) is required
Experience with PATRAN or FEMAP, NASTRAN, and MATLAB is required
Experience in dynamics of structural systems using classical analysis and finite element based methods is required
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%)
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required
STAR ID is also required
Preferred
Experience with LS-Dyna, LS-Opt, and LS-Prepost is desirable
Experience with the application of the finite element method to perform coupled loads analysis and knowledge of the Craig-Bampton model reduction theory are desirable
