Training and Development Manager

Chicago State University is seeking a Training and Development Manager who will be responsible for creating and implementing learning and development strategies aligned with the university’s strategic plan. Responsibilities

Ensures that training and performance management initiatives align with the overall goals and objectives of improving campus culture
Conducts skill gap analyses and training needs assessments
Develops, updates, and facilitates human resources training programs, including new hire-hire orientation, formal courses, workshops, and online learning modules
Coordinates special university training events by customizing training and/or selection of appropriate resources from various vendors to improve employee culture
Supervises and approves subjects and programs for presentation or incorporation into existing programs; supervises the evaluation of related programs
Tracks participation rates and measuring program outcomes
Works with department leaders to create onboarding training plans for new employees and supervisors
Works with department leaders to make sure there are professional development opportunities available for Faculty and Staff
Conducts survey/audits and assessing campus needs for program development
Develops and facilitates supervisory and management development training programs
Creating programs aimed at developing future leaders within the organization, focusing on competencies such as decision-making, strategic thinking, and team management
Oversee the annual and probationary review process
Designs the overall framework for performance reviews, establishing policies, procedures, and timelines to ensure a consistent and fair process across the university
Provides training to supervisors on how to conduct and participate in the performance review process, including how to set goals, give constructive feedback, write unbiased assessments, and to create employee plans for future growth and development

Required

Any one or any combination of the following, totaling four years (48 months), from the categories below: A. credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in education or other fields related to training and development such as human resource administration or business administration or closely related fields • 30 semester hours equals 12 months • 60 semester hours equals 24 months • 90 semester hours equals 36 month • 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's Degree equals 48 months B. credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in fields other than those previously listed • Bachelor's Degree equals 3 years (36 months) • Master's Degree equals 4 years (48 months) C. work experience as a human resource or training professional
Four years of professional work experience in the training and development profession comparable to those listed for the Training and Development Specialist I
A Master's degree in education or other fields closely related to training and development (such as human resource administration or business administration) or a Master's degree with a concentration in these fields may be substituted for one year of such experience. (The Master's degree may be substituted for experience only once, however, in satisfying the requirements of this class; i.e., the degree cannot be used to satisfy both credential requirements 1 and 2.)
Working knowledge of the Ellucian/Banner program
Strong computing skills in a PC environment (Access, Excel, MSWord, and PowerPoint) with the ability to create complex reports
Excellent analytical, project management and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and lead complex projects with minimal supervision
Excellent communications skills and the ability to interface with business systems users to identify needs and assist in implementation

Preferred

Any one or a combination of the following certifications: • Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR or SPHR) • SHRM Certification: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP • Certified Learning and Development Professional (CLDP) • Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM) certification
