Maintenance Engineer – Western NY - Earn $30-$38/hr + Company Vehicle Provided!
Applegreen (US) Welcome Centers operates over 80 travel plazas across the Northeast and Midwest, providing convenience and comfort to travelers. They are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer responsible for performing general maintenance and commercial kitchen equipment repair across multiple Travel Plazas in New York.

Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, and perform repairs and maintenance on all food service equipment
Maintain small appliances, kitchen equipment, and minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs
Ensure that all equipment is in safe operating condition
Coordinate repairs within approved budgetary guidelines
Maintain preventative maintenance schedule and records
Travel to various Travel Plazas in NY (3) sites to repair and maintain all facility-related items
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum 3 years (5 preferred) of hands-on experience with commercial kitchen equipment repair and maintenance
Strong working knowledge of hot-side (grills, ovens, fryers, Microwaves) and cold-side (refrigeration, freezers, prep tables)
Beverage-side (Coffee brewers, espresso, coffee grinders) and related appliances
Must be familiar with commercial electrical and gas systems (single phases 120, 208 & 3 phase 208.480 voltages)
Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and service manuals
Proficient with basic hand tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment
Plumbing - Ability to diagnose plumbing issues accurately and determine effective solutions with understanding of plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, fittings, and appliances
Carpentry, Paint, Tile, and Doors: Ability to assess and do basic repairs to damaged wood cabinets, furniture, fixtures, laminates, counter tops, building façade and fascia
Ability to assess and do basic painting repairs which include cleaning, sanding, and patching holes and imperfections
Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 80 lbs
Ability to perform tasks while on a ladder
Ability to operate equipment requires continual and repetitive hand and arm motions
Ability to be exposed to various climates ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold
To operate a company vehicle, the applicants MUST be 25 years old and have a valid driver's license
Experience with high-volume environments (restaurants, schools, hospitals)
Effective communication and customer service
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Basic computer skills
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to bend and twist to perform normal job functions
Preferred
Knowledge of CMMS software is helpful
Certificate of completion of courses in the above-mentioned trades is recommended but not required
