Responsibilities
Identify problems, plan solutions and oversee all areas of infection control measures
Monitor on a consistent basis trends/patterns of infections in the facility and initiate immediate corrective action
Review related policies/procedures and revise as indicated
Participate in regulatory surveys such as State Survey
Supervise staff performance as they perform their responsibilities, advise staff on areas of improvement and teach skills as needed
Conduct in-services for education of staff
Track/maintain immunization documentation and COVID data
Qualification
Required
Unencumbered RN or LPN license in the state of Virginia required
Nursing degree from an accredited institution or equivalent graduation from an approved RN/LPN program
BLS required/ACLS preferred
Five years of relevant clinical experience
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) should be achieved within two years in the position
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects weighing over 50 pounds
Preferred
Experience in a long-term care facility preferred
Knowledgeable of laws, regulations and guidelines as they relate to long-term care
Previous experience in teaching, curriculum development and instruction is desired
