Opto-Mechanical Technician III
The University of Rochester is committed to Meliora - Ever Better and is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Technician III to support its Laboratory for Laser Energetics. The role involves the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment used in laser physics experiments, requiring both technical aptitude and mechanical skills.

Responsibilities
Supporting the operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments which frequently involves being in a cleanroom environment
Precision alignment of optical systems
Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
Perform preventative maintenance
Supporting engineers in design and installation of new equipment
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Optics or technology /engineering field and 2 years of relevant experience required (4 years' preferred)
Strong technical aptitude
Ability to lift to 50 lbs and navigate stairs/ladders
High degree of manual dexterity
Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong interpersonal skills working in a team-based environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software
Shift flexibility (Morning and Evening shifts)
Preferred
Experience with optical, mechanical, electrical systems
Experience handling precision optical components
Proficient with reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
Technical writing experience
