Electrical Systems Engineer

The Electrical Systems Engineer will support the Ground Control Station Engineering staff in analyzing and resolving engineering problems, developing post-production upgrade kits, and overseeing the GCS design process.

Responsibilities
Applies technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems
Performs functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles
Obtains and analyzes test data
Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions. May be required to make brief technical presentations
May provide direction to design and/or technical staff
Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Performs other duties as assigned. Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
Must have a complete understanding of basic system level electrical engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties
Needs to understand simple interfaces, including connectors, rack mounting, assembling and interfacing multiple devices. Along with using electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, power meters and multimeters) to troubleshoot, debug and fix various electrical system issues during the prototype and test phase
Must understand and able to work with computer hardware and interfaces, from networking to motherboards, peripherals, USB and hard drives
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems
Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required
Preferred
Understanding of various electrical interfaces, from video(NTSC, SDI, DVI, HDMI, and Display Port) to serial(RS232, RS422, USB), along with audio interfaces is desired
