Responsibilities
Concept development for future steam plants including fluid system design (types and sizes of the systems), analysis (impacts to safety, cost, schedule, performance, operations, and maintenance), arrangement integration (where things are located on the boat)
Component development (what is needed to support the overall plant design)
Frequent interface with multiple Electric Boat engineering disciplines, vendors, Newport News Shipbuilding, Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), and NAVSEA 08 is required
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, Ocean/Maritime, Marine, or Nuclear engineering
5+ years of professional engineering experience
The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, project management, oral, and written communication skills
Candidate must be detail oriented, highly motivated, and be able to work independently as well as interact with other groups and organizations in an engineering environment
Desired skills include: reading and developing diagrams/schematics and construction drawings; deriving requirements from specifications; making material and component selections; and performing engineering calculations
Preferred
Experience working on propulsion plant fluid systems, components and/or arrangements
Experience with propulsion plant design, operations, maintenance, and/or testing
Experience as a Naval nuclear operator
Experience with NX/Teamcenter
