Optical Engineer I

Responsibilities
Assists in the design and development of optical systems, devices, and components
Participates in the requirements gathering and hardware selection for projects
Assists with the modeling and design of optical components, systems, and devices based on system requirements
Implements test plans for validating optical assemblies and components
Documents tests and ensures high level requirements are met
Monitors and calibrates laser systems to optimize the output of the lasers
Troubleshoots and researches issues with performance of lasers
Conducts corrective calibration to correct issues
Coordinates with vendors when external maintenance is required
Performs advance calibrations and rebuilds operational hardware to support shot operations
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and 1 year of relevant experience required
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with lasers, preferably laser diodes required
Experience with automated alignment processes required
Ability to develop data collection and database interface and integration into manufacturing execution system required
High level of competency with modelling of optical systems required
Ability to develop optical alignment tooling and procedures required
