Mid-Level Watershed Engineer/Scientist

Responsibilities

Assist with the collection and analysis of a variety of data types related to stream, riparian, and watershed assessment and restoration projects
Assist with surveying and other hydrologic and geomorphologic data collection; hydrologic, hydraulic, geomorphologic, and geospatial analyses
Preparation of stream and watershed maps
Development of construction plans, permit applications, and floodplain modeling
Report writing and outreach activities

Required

Minimum of 4 years of experience and education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in: environmental, agricultural, biological, chemical, or civil engineering with an emphasis on the environment; environmental, soil or watershed science; geology, hydrology, geography or other physical science with an emphasis on the environment; ecological restoration; wildlife or fisheries biology
Experience relating to stream restoration, watershed assessment and watershed planning

Preferred

Training in applied river morphology and river restoration design equivalent to the Level IV course offered by Wildland Hydrology
Experience using software products including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil3D, ESRI ArcGIS/ArcMap, and Rivermorph
Background and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: stream restoration practices utilizing natural channel design approach and Rosgen stream classification system; fluvial geomorphology; GIS analysis of natural resources data and map production
