Responsibilities
Provides technical, day to day, design support to the Project Engineer including drafting support for plan production activities
Progresses toward learning how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications
Assigns tasks to and coordinates with cad technicians or administrative staff
Analyzes topographic survey data
Continues to develop a knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems
Performs technical reports and cost estimates
Performs hydrologic and hydraulic design calculations
Develops an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering plans and specifications into constructed product
Performs drainage design and sanitary sewer design
Performs construction administration tasks
Analyzes horizontal and vertical geometry
Models roadway corridors
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate or passed FE exam
2 years using MicroStation, InRoads, PowerInRoads, and/or OpenRoads for transportation design
Outgoing, friendly, approachable (team player)
Strong communication skills with team members and clients, demonstrates active listening techniques
Proficient in computer software (Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, Microsoft Project)
Competent technical skills required to complete engineering tasks
Able to proactively pursue design solutions
Ability to be open to other's ideas and willing to compromise
Detail-oriented but also flexible enough to be big picture/conceptual
Able to compromise and accept other's ideas
Good reputation amongst peers, clients, and agencies
Able to follow general directions and guidelines for the firm's policies, practices, and procedures
A supportive team member with the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative environment
