Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
Prepare and maintain a schedule of dues dates for monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings and license renewals
Coordinate with external tax preparers to ensure timely and accurate filings
Manage and update tax portal login credentials and communicate changes as needed
Maintain a schedule of property tax filing deadlines
Prepare supporting documentation and file property tax returns where applicable
Provide backup support for processing vendor invoices and payments as needed
Assist with reconciling AP and AR accounts during month-end close
Support resolution of discrepancies between purchase orders, invoices, and receipts
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Prepare variance analysis and account reconciliations as needed
Generate ad hoc financial reports for management as requested
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Participate in special projects aimed at improving accounting processes and systems
Conduct financial analyses to support business decisions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or product-based environment
Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
General knowledge of corporate tax processes and compliance, with the ability to coordinate and manage multi-state and federal tax activities in collaboration with external tax preparers
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite or similar ERP systems)
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
Preferred
Experience with Avalara or similar tax automation software
