Patent Paralegal

Responsibilities

Prepare necessary filing documents for timely filing of U.S. and foreign patent applications and prosecution documents
Work closely with patent practitioners to create meaningful portfolio insights for clients
Deliver the highest quality service possible, including exceptional communication skills, prioritization and organizational skills
Assist with additional administrative tasks like preparing client contracts, scheduling meetings, preparing quotes, and booking travel
Ensure that team members and clients are aware of and on top of all relevant deadlines, update project management boards with deadlines, manage information flow between email and various software systems, and develop and maintain processes to drive internal efficiencies

Required

Bachelor's degree and/or patent paralegal certificate
4+ years as an experienced patent prosecution paralegal either in-house at a company or with a law firm
Experience in preparing U.S. and international filings (through U.S. or IB as the receiving office) via Patent Center, PCTeasy, and ePCT, including preparation of formal documents such as assignments, declarations, powers of attorney, and petitions
Ability to proactively create response shells, client reports, and prosecution documents
Experience in preparing information disclosure statements and managing the surrounding processes
Ability to locate bibliographic data for patent filings from any jurisdiction
Excellent organizational, verbal communication, and writing skills
Demonstrated ability to work across dynamic and diverse teams of patent agents, engineers, inventors, and business and strategy professionals
Ability to self-direct, manage, motivate, and take personal ownership and responsibility for driving results and achieving milestones
Comfortable operating outside a strict job description to support shared goals while prioritizing and managing multiple deadlines
Possess strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred

AppColl whiz (preferred, but we can train if not) and experience with Microsoft products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Trello, and Google products (Sheets, Docs, Gmail)
Prior experience working remotely in a distributed environment is helpful
