Telematics Data Analyst

Central Ohio Transit Authority is seeking a Telematics Data Analyst to assist the Vehicle Maintenance Department in diagnosing and resolving transit vehicle-related defects and performance issues. The role involves leading data analytics initiatives, utilizing telematics data to improve vehicle reliability, and developing action plans to address performance issues.

Responsibilities

Leads all data analytics initiatives related to the performance of COTA's fleet of revenue vehicles. Monitors poor fleet performance and system-related defects including engine, transmission, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), HVAC, and braking issues. Produces and analyzes reports on fleet performance and technical part failures using VM support applications for Vehicle Maintenance and Engineering staff
Utilizes available resources and technology including telematics data, Fleetwatch, Ventech, Vontas, NFI Connect, OEM software, and technical manuals, to develop reports, diagnose performance issues, interpret fault codes, and recommend preventative maintenance and diagnostics to improve vehicle reliability and prevent service interruptions; and
Develops action plans to address performance issues, identify negative trends, and investigate potential causes of component failures. Leads Vehicle Maintenance (VM) staff in resolving quality concerns and implementing performance improvements. Investigates and prioritizes service-related issues to determine appropriate actions and complexity of resolution
Identifies data cleansing opportunities and suggests improvements to data accuracy, collection systems, and analytical tools
Develops effective requirements documentation including communication plans, approach documents, and traceability matrices. Reads, writes, and comprehends instructions, correspondence, and memos for internal staff and external OEM vendors and dealer representatives
Interprets engineering drawings and schematics for propulsion, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic systems, and ladder rung charts. Reviews VM support applications daily for exceptions and reports findings related to fluid usage and tire pressure readings

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Administration, or Computer Science, or related field
Minimum of five (5) years of experience with heavy-duty transit vehicles; heavy duty vehicles, electrified or hybrid vehicles
Equivalent combination of education and experience with heavy-duty vehicle engineering will also be considered
