Accounting Associate, University Housing
Florida State University is one of the nation's elite research universities, and they are seeking an Accounting Associate for the University Housing department. This role involves analyzing departmental expense reports, maintaining accounting records, and acting as a liaison between various offices and vendors.

Responsibilities
Analyzes departmental expense reports monthly for Housing and Childcare operating budgets
Verifies and obtains supporting documentation for expenditures
This includes maintaining paid vendor files and acting as a liaison between the Housing Business Offices and departmental personnel, vendors, and the University Controller's Office
P-card Proxy duties - This includes the maintenance of P-card holders paid and pending charges folders, weekly reconciliations, and monthly reconciliation reports and acting as a liaison between the Housing Business Office and cardholders, vendors, P-card auditors, and the Procurement Office
Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of and maintains accounting records for Housing vending, IRHC vending, FSU Childcare, and both the Housing, and Childcare Foundation accounts
Analyzes and maintains outstanding encumbrances
This includes increasing encumbrance, as needed, liquidating paid out purchase orders, overseeing the processing of requisitions, purchasing orders, receiving reports, and vendor invoices
Works with vendors and personnel in University Housing and the University Controllers Office in order to comply with Prompt Payment of State Invoices provision as outlined in Chapter 215.422 3B of the Florida Statutes
Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of the Housing subsidiary ledgers
Serves as a backup to the Cashier Supervisor
Performs other duties, as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
Preferred
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously
Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations
Ability to maintain accurate records and retrieve files from active or archive sources
Basic filing practices to include numeric and alphabetic systems
