Recreation Aid (LIFEGUARD)

Maxwell Community Services Flight is seeking a Recreation Aid (LIFEGUARD) to be assigned to the Aviation Cadet Pool, Outdoor Recreation on Maxwell AFB, AL. This position involves ensuring the safety of patrons in the swimming area, administering first aid when necessary, and maintaining the cleanliness and operation of the swimming facilities.

Responsibilities

Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons
Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area
Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed
Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail
When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards
Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made
May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc

Required

Must possess an approved current and valid nationally recognized certification in lifeguard, basic first aid, and CPR which covers lifesaving and water rescue methods, skills and procedures for adult, child and infant
Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical
Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children
Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training
Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable
Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Direct deposit is required
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
A probationary period may be required
Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD)
