Founding Account Executive

Shields Group Search is representing an early-stage legal tech startup focused on modernizing law firm workflows. The Founding Account Executive will be responsible for generating new business, managing customer success, and building foundational GTM systems and processes.

Responsibilities

Own the top of funnel across inbound and outbound
Design and run outreach strategies (cold email, LinkedIn, events, referrals, etc.) targeting law firm decision-makers
Build and manage a lightweight but effective sales stack (CRM, sequencing, tracking, reporting)
Qualify opportunities and partner with founders to close key deals
Track metrics (meetings booked, conversion rates, pipeline, revenue) and continuously refine the approach
Lead onboarding and rollout for the first ~15+ law firm customers
Run trainings, check-ins, and ongoing stakeholder communication
Drive adoption across as many users within each firm as possible
Gather structured customer feedback and translate it into actionable product insights
Proactively identify account risks and expansion opportunities
Build a repeatable GTM playbook (ICP, messaging, sequences, objection handling)
Define KPIs and reporting cadence for Sales and Customer Success
Inform future GTM hiring strategy as the company scales
Serve as the internal voice of the customer, especially for the legal vertical

Required

Proven experience selling to law firms (legal tech, practice management, litigation support, research tools, etc.)
Strong understanding of how law firms evaluate and buy software
Demonstrated success running cold outbound motions end to end
Experience in a startup or highly unstructured environment where you built or shaped sales processes

Preferred

Founding AE or first sales hire experience at a B2B SaaS startup
Background spanning both new business and customer success/account management
Bay Area–based or open to regular in-person collaboration as the team transitions to SF around June

Benefits

OTE: ~2x base (approximately $260k–$300k at target)
Commission: typically 5–10% on closed deals (final structure TBD)
Equity: meaningful early-stage equity grant
