Identification Data Specialist

The Seattle Police Department is currently seeking an Identification Data Specialist. This position involves analyzing and processing criminal bookings, reviewing and transferring booking information to law enforcement agencies, and ensuring the accuracy of legal documents.

Responsibilities

Provide assistance to criminal justice and other authorized agents
Review document information to verify accuracy
Identify problems in documents, such as wrong case numbers, performing research via electronic databases, paper documents, or telephone calls to solve problems and editing documents prior to transmission
Enter data and transmit Live Scan Booking Arrests to the Washington State Patrol and FBI
Verify information to be included in documents of public record
Distribute booking and disposition sheets
Audit open investigation charges for disposition and charging information
Identify errors and omissions and make referrals as directed per standard operation procedure
Maintain filing systems
Quality control and problem solving records issues
Provide specialized and technical, program specific information to internal and/or external customers
Comply with requests for copies of mug photographs
Perform other related duties of comparable level/type as assigned

Required

This position requires two years of office clerical support experience (or a combination of education training, and/or experience) which provides evidence of the ability to perform work of the class
Must pass a Seattle Police Department background investigation
Must be able to obtain Level One Certification for the Washington Crime Information Center, Washington State Identification and Criminal History Section and the National Crime Information Center as required to access these databases. Testing every year is required to maintain this certification
Must be able to work all shifts, rotating from day to swing (on quarterly basis) including weekends and holidays
Must perform work on-site; no remote work is available

Preferred

The ability to exercise good judgment, organize workload, problem solve, and provide good customer service
The ability to work independently and adjust priorities on short notice
Exhibit a strong interpersonal skill set
Experience answering multi-line phones, voicemail, and intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Office
Ability to communicate clearly and handle a variety of tasks and assignments in a timely manner
