Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage complex network architectures encompassing LAN, WAN, MPLS, and SDLC environments
Configure and maintain network devices such as Cisco routers, Juniper switches, Cisco ASA firewalls, and Juniper devices to ensure secure connectivity
Implement and support VPNs (including IPsec), firewall policies, load balancing solutions, and high availability configurations
Monitor network performance using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk; troubleshoot issues related to network protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS, SFTP, SSH
Manage network security protocols including encryption standards (SSL/TLS), PKI certificates via Cisco ISE or similar systems; enforce authentication methods such as SSO and LDAP
Oversee system administration tasks across various operating systems including Windows Server, Linux distributions (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Solaris and macOS
Automate network configuration and management tasks using scripting languages like Python or Bash; utilise tools such as Ansible for orchestration
Support cloud-based services on platforms such as Azure and AWS; implement virtualisation solutions with VMware vSphere or Citrix
Conduct regular updates to network documentation and assist in capacity planning for future growth
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless integration of telecommunication systems like VoIP and remote access software solutions
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in designing and managing enterprise-level networks with a strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP)
Extensive knowledge of network security measures including IDS/IPS systems (e.g., Snort), firewalls (Cisco ASA), SSL/TLS encryption standards and VPN technologies
Hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment (routers/switches), Juniper devices, SDN solutions, load balancers (F5 or similar), and SAN storage environments
Familiarity with cloud services such as Azure or AWS along with virtualisation platforms like VMware vSphere
Skilled in scripting for automation using PowerShell or Shell Scripting; adept at using monitoring tools like SolarWinds or PRTG for proactive management
Strong understanding of ITIL practices related to network management; experience in system administration across multiple operating systems including Linux distributions and Windows Server environments
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex network issues swiftly while maintaining high levels of security compliance
Preferred
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible for orchestration
Knowledge of telecommunication systems like VoIP and remote access software solutions
