Responsibilities
Take an active, hands-on role in organizing and improving the company’s past and future financial structure
Work side-by-side with the owner to bring clarity, order, and consistency to financial operations
Assist with past years’ tax filing and bookkeeping cleanup, including organizing historical financial records and categorizing prior expenses
Help establish and maintain accurate systems for tracking income, expenses, and tax obligations
Provide quarterly tax planning and forward-looking financial strategy
Advise on corporate/LLC structure (no S-Corp election at this time)
Offer guidance on owner compensation and tax liability forecasting
Identify and help implement practical financial improvements as the business grows
Take initiative in moving financial projects forward rather than relying solely on checklists or passive guidance
Qualification
Required
Need 8-10 year of experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or experienced tax professional
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Solid experience in tax preparation, tax advising, and federal/state/local tax regulations
Proficiency in accounting, bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and financial analysis
Experience with financial planning, budgeting, and identifying cost-saving strategies
Proficient in accounting and tax software (such as QuickBooks, Excel, and tax preparation platforms)
Strong advisory mindset with a willingness to be hands-on in improving financial structure and cleanup
Comfortable working in a collaborative, side-by-side role with a growing business owner
Ability to translate financial strategy into clear, actionable steps and help see them through
Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong time management skills
Preferred
Experience working with small businesses in logistics, transportation, freight, or service industries strongly preferred
Experience with multi-state or international business activity is a plus
