The DC Department of Human Resources is seeking a Legal Administrative Specialist for the D. C. Department of Corrections. The role involves proofreading legal documents, maintaining records, and managing requests for information related to legal matters.

Responsibilities
Proofreads legal briefs, depositions, memoranda, cover letters, pleadings, and other legal documents based on written notes, drafts, and verbal instructions; formats and organizes material in accordance with standard legal practices using word processing systems; assists in preparation of paper and electronic court filings and responses to document/discovery requests
Retains Department records to include but not limited to institutional files, logbooks, visitation records, census reports incident reports disciplinary reports, and housing records in accordance with the agency record retention schedule
Tracks, monitors, and dockets legal matters; accounts for filing deadlines; and identifies, gathers, reviews and analyzes materials, records, and data required for legal matters, in coordination with DOC
Reviews and responds to requests for information and documents submitted through the litigation discovery process and through court issued subpoenas as the agency’s Custodian of Records
Maintains and disseminates electronic storage devices containing surveillance and phone call recordings for review by inmates as part of the Department’s Surveillance Review program
Maintains, organizes and retrieves institutional files, logbooks, visitation records, census reports, incident reports, disciplinary reports, housing records, and other agency materials as the custodian of records
Receives reviews and responds to voluminous requests for information and documents through the litigation discovery process and through court issued subpoenas
Qualification
Required
At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression
