Responsibilities

Exhibits journey to advanced level proficiency plus unique knowledge that allows effective participation in recommended courses of action, and the achievement of satisfactory solutions to advanced technical problems
Leads project activity related to specific, unique, and/or highly specialized areas of engineering technology application
Leads, facilitates, and coordinates work activities of others within work group, team, department or other corporate entity as necessary, and assumes the role of project manager for assigned tasks
Coordinates and conducts training
Reviews planned work of others when assigned
Organizes and leads special projects and task forces as assigned
Demonstrates superior problem-solving skills in area of specialization which earns expert recognition within the company
Projects credibility and competence on technical issues and has highly developed presentation skills
Networks throughout AEP, other companies, professional organizations, and regulatory agencies
Possesses the knowledge to make technical decisions based on calculated risks with little or no management review
Understands how technical strategies and decisions impact the relationship with customers
Demonstrates the ability to make decisions affecting long-range plans and goals based on analysis of uncertain input and outcomes
Makes decisions where differences of opinion are likely to exist
Provides input into decisions which have an impact across organizational boundaries

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by ABET
A degree in engineering technology is the preferred degree; however, engineering degrees will also be considered
Acceptable alternative is a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering technology from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program
VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a Non ABET accredited program
