Traction Power and Overhead Contact System (OCS) Engineer
WSP is a leading engineering and professional services firm seeking a Traction Power and Overhead Contact System (OCS) Engineer to contribute to complex Northeast Corridor railroad projects. The role involves executing multidisciplinary technical work, developing designs, and supporting business development opportunities.

Responsibilities
Contribute to cross-functional teams of engineers, planners, and other disciplines to execute multidisciplinary technical work including traction power and OCS design for multiple concurrent Amtrak and other Northeast Corridor railroad projects
Develop traction power and OCS concepts, technical designs, and specifications in compliance with specifications, standards, and sound engineering practices, and develop cost estimates
Remain current in latest traction power and OCS engineering techniques and practices
Support business development opportunities and proposals
Participate in WSP’s quality process for all deliverables
Support technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings
Participate in meetings with clients and WSP colleagues to discuss project challenges and help the team achieve a satisfactory outcome
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline
More than five years of post-education experience in planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and cutover for traction power and OCS systems for Amtrak or other Northeast Corridor railroads
Advanced written communication skills
Highly effective interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, project managers, and employees at all levels
Experienced in providing critical review of documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help move toward the most effective, economical, and logical technical solution
Immediate availability to work in the US
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Preferred
Master's Degree in Engineering
