Hardware Design Engineer
PDSINC, LLC is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer to design and deliver space-qualified PCB and FPGA-based hardware for flight cameras, navigation sensors, and next-generation space systems. The role involves collaborating with engineering and product teams to take designs from concept through qualification and into manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Learn product architecture and requirements for space-based sensor systems
Design, analyze, and document PCB and FPGA-based hardware
Develop verification plans, stress/worst-case analysis, and FMEA
Bring up and debug board-level and system-level designs with software teams
Build custom test fixtures, adapters, and cables
Conduct design verification and stress testing and resolve non-compliances
Support manufacturing transition and product release
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field (MSEE a plus)
5+ years of hardware design experience
Experience with DC/DC power conversion and power monitoring/protection
Experience with Analog circuits (amplifiers, filters, ADC/DAC, power sequencing)
Experience with Digital interfaces: UART, SPI/QSPI, I2C, Ethernet, USB, MIPI, DDR2/3/4
Experience with SoC systems (e.g., Xilinx Zynq / Vivado)
Experience with EMC compliance (MIL-STD-461, ESD)
Hands-on lab and full lifecycle hardware development experience
Preferred
Space environment and radiation effects knowledge (TID, SEE, TNID)
Altium (or similar), GIT, SPICE/simulation tools
Strong communication and documentation skills
Ability to travel occasionally (<5%)
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
