Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud infrastructure for Scripps’ research computing needs
Collaborate with labs and faculties to understand their computing needs and provide appropriate solutions
Implement and optimize on-premise and cloud storage and workloads
Work closely with other HPC and IT Services team members to ensure compatibility, scalability, and security
Provide technical support and training to users on the HPC systems
Stay abreast of HPC, cloud, and AI technologies and recommend thoughtful solutions
Develop and maintain documentation of systems and processes

Required

5+ years working in a senior engineer role in an HPC research computing environment
Advanced knowledge of one or more scripting languages such as Python, Bash
Demonstrated experience in designing compute infrastructure in one or more AWS/Azure/GCP environments
Experience in designing and developing AI compute infrastructure
Hands-on experience with job scheduling, orchestration and automated configuration tools, distributed storage systems and shared file systems, and container technologies (Singularity, Kubernetes for HPC, Ansible)
Knowledge of APIs, web services, and identity access management

Preferred

BA/BS in computer science or related field desirable but not required
Experience with SQL a plus
