Responsibilities

Manage the accounting staff of fourteen. This includes performance assessment, professional development, organization planning, etc
Build and lead the team to drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and performance standards. Work with other Area accounting teams as needed
Oversee the accounting for each of the Area’s and ensure that accounting is compliant with GAAP
Oversee the month end accounting close, and review budget and forecast variance analysis. Review and approve Journal Entries from PNW and other locations as needed
Monitor the Area’s Balance Sheet accounts and understand the activity in the accounts. Review all Balance Sheet recons in Blackline and ensure that accounts are properly reconciled
Partner with Operations and Finance monthly to align financial planning with execution of budget and forecast, especially in the Marine and Other regions
Provide monthly butane blending reports and monthly RINs request to EHS Operations for MW/KM Phoenix (KMPh) terminals
Monitor the Accounts Receivable and assist with collection issues as needed. Assist with the Credit Watch List. Report on A/R status in various Area and Segment level meetings
Ensure that the Area’s revenue recognition is correct in accordance with ASC 606 and ASC 842, including levelization that occurs in the Marine Area
Ensure that the Area’s information included in ASC 606 and ASC 842 Financial Statement disclosures are correct, including manual BDA entries for the Northern Area
Ensure that the Area is following all applicable SOX controls and internal policies. Responsible for direct approval of several PNW/Marine/Other regional controls
Oversee the preparation of KMPh joint venture (JV) monthly financial statements. Present the JV financials in the quarterly board meeting, and other JV meetings as needed
Handle, oversee and approve bank wire transfer/Ariba payment requests as authorized and as needed, especially KMPh monthly management fee/interco settlement, Marine monthly operating fee/drydock/true-ups and weekly PNW PMA contract labor payments
Assist as needed with internal and external audits, including KMPh JV stand-alone GAAP audit and KMUR I/II (Carteret)
Various reporting and analysis as needed. Other tasks as needed and assigned

Required

7 – 10 years accounting experience
Accounting degree
CPA a plus
Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and ASC 842
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to work with all levels of the organization
Self-starter and initiative
Able to multi-task, be meticulous and have strong organizational skills
Sense of urgency to complete assigned tasks on time and accurately
Upwards to ten percent travel to the regions (NE/MW/PNW/Marine)
Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of the successful candidate
